Arrival by air: Transport and other info

Which Oslo airport - which airline?

Oslo has 3 airports, one of which, Gardermoen (OSL), lies significantly closer to Kvam than the others. Regrettably, OSL is also normally the most expensive airport to travel to, since low-cost companies like Wizzair and Ryanair only operates out of one or both of the two others:

  • Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) - 237 km to Kvam - Low-cost airline Norwegian and a variety of full-service airlines
  • Sandefjord Torp Airport (TRF) - 392 km to Kvam - Low-cost airlines Wizzair, Ryanair and Norwegian. Full-service airline Widerøe (i.e. SAS) and KLM
  • Rygge Airport (RYG) - 337 km to Kvam - Low-cost airlines Ryanair and Norwegian

This means that the best combination of low-cost airline and airport are Norwegians flights into OSL. Here are however links to where you may search for tickets:

  • Low-cost airline Norwegian (OSL,RYG and TRF) from most of Europe
  • Low-cost airline Wizzair (TRF) from eastern Europe
  • Low-cost airline Ryanair (TRF, RYG) from most of Europe
  • Full-service airlines like SAS, KLM and many others may easily be compared for the best deals using Kayak or similar.

From the airport to Kvam

PLEASE OBSERVE: The railway system through Oslo is completely shut down during the rally because of maintenance work. This does not affect trains from Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) to Kvam, but it means that you WILL be put on a bus through central Oslo if you book a train ticket from either Torp (TRF) or Rygge (RYG) airports to Kvam.

Although trains do pass Kvam regularly, your best option will be by express bus, since it just leaves you with a 650 meter walk to the rally grounds. Many trains do not stop at Kvam station (which is also just 650 meters walk away), leaving you with the option to stop at Vinstra (11 km before Kvam) or Otta (20 km after Kvam). From there you would need to take a taxi, local bus or get someone to pick you up (we might be able to help you too, but we can not guarantee it). Kvam train station is also within walking distance

Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL)

At OSL, excellent bus and train terminals are integrated into the airport.

  • Express bus company Nor-Way: Use "Oslo Airport" as departure station and "Kvam Sinclair" as your destination when searching for a suitable ride.
  • Train company NSB: Use "Gardermoen Oslo Lufthavn" as departure station and "Kvam" as your destination when searching for a suitable ride. Alternatively, try "Vinstra" or "Otta" as your destination.

Rygge Airport (RYG)

At Rygge, only buses leaves directly outside the terminal building. All travels to Kvam involves changing buses at Oslo central bus terminal, but you may be able to purchase a ticket for the whole travel. You may also travel by train from Rygge, this will first put you on a 5-minute shuttle bus to the nearest train station.

  • Express bus company Nor-Way: Use "Rygge Airport" as departure station and "Kvam Sinclair" as your destination when searching for a suitable ride. One ticket for the whole travel - probably cheaper than the following option:
  • Express bus companies Ryggeekspressen plus Nor-Way: To find even more bus travel options to Kvam, hit the Ryggeekspressen shuttle bus to the Oslo central bus terminal, and from there find a suitable Nor-Way route to Kvam. The Ryggeekspressen website is only in norwegian but assumed to be pretty self explanatory even for non-norwegian speakres (strictly there is no need to visit their site to travel with their buses). The travel time is 60 minutes, and departures are frequent - if you calculate at least 2 hours between your landing time and departure with Nor-Way from the Oslo central bus terminal you should be fine (no guarantees given however). To search for Nor-Way buses from Oslo central bus terminal, use "Oslo Bussterminal" as your departure station.
  • Train company NSB: Use "Rygge" as your departure station and "Kvam" as your destination when searching for a suitable ride. Please also calculate time for the 5-minute shuttle bus ride from Rygge airport to Rygge train station, as described here. Because of the works on the central Oslo rail system, you will again be put on a bus between Oslo central train station to Lillestrøm, north east of Oslo.

Torp Airport (TRF)

At Torp, only buses leaves directly outside the terminal building. All travels to Kvam involves changing buses at Oslo central bus terminal. You may also travel by train from Torp, this will first put you on a 4-minute shuttle bus to the nearest train station.

  • Express bus companies Torpekspressen plus Nor-Way: The Torpekspressen shuttle bus is the fastest way to the Oslo central bus terminal, where you can find a suitable Nor-Way bus route to Kvam. Since Torpekspressen and Nor-Way are not connected, you will have to buy two tickets. The travel time to Oslo is 1 hour and 45 minutes, and departures are frequent - if you calculate at least 3 hours between your landing time and departure with Nor-Way from the Oslo central bus terminal you should be fine (no guarantees given however). To search for Nor-Way buses from Oslo central bus terminal, use "Oslo Bussterminal" as your departure station and "Kvam Sinclair" as your destination.
  • Train company NSB: Use "Torp Sandefjord Lufthavn" as your departure station and "Kvam" as your destination when searching for a suitable ride. Please also calculate time for the 4-minute shuttle bus ride from Torp airport to Torp train station, as described here. Because of the works on the central Oslo rail system, you will again be put on a bus between Lillestrøm west of Oslo and Lillestrøm, north east of Oslo.

Welcome

Welcome to the EMC Rally webpage. This website presents the annual EMC Rally - a motorcycle rally where Christian motorcycle clubs from all over Europe and beyond gather. The rally takes place the first weekend of August each year and is hosted in different countries by different clubs each year.

EMC (European Motorcyclists for Christ) is not an organization, but a meeting point for brothers and sisters in Christ who share the same passion for motorcycles and Jesus.

This webpage will contain info on upcoming and pastEMC rallies as it becomes available. There's a private area for club leaders/presidents, where meeting notes and other documents from the EMC president meetings are stored. These meetings take place during the EMC Rally. There is also an EMC presidents mailinglist. If you think you are eligible for access to the president section of this webpage and to the EMC mailinglist, please write a mail to webmaster at emcrally dot com.
